বড়াইগ্রামে জাতীয় প্রাণীসম্পদ সপ্তাহের উদ্বোধন ও আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত

" দেশীয় জাত, আধুনিক প্রযুক্তি: প্রাণীসম্পদে হবে উন্নতি" প্রতিবাদ্যে নাটোরের বড়াইগ্রামে জাতীয় প্রাণী সম্পদ সপ্তাহ-২০২৫ এর শুভ উদ্বোধন ও আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। বুধবার (২৬ নভেম্বর) সকালে অনুষ্ঠানের শুভ উদ্বোধন করেন প্রধান অতিথি উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার লায়লা জান্নাতুল ফেরদৌস।
অনুষ্ঠানে উপজেলা প্রাণিসম্পদ কর্মকর্তা ডা. নূরে আলম সিদ্দিকীর সভাপতিত্বে বিশেষ অতিথির বক্তব্য রাখেন, সহকারী কমিশনার ভূমি জুবায়ের জাহাঙ্গীর, বড়াইগ্রাম থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জ (ওসি) গোলাম সারোয়ার হোসেন, সিনিয়র উপজেলা মৎস্য কর্মকর্তা মুরাদ হোসেন প্রামানিক, উপজেলা কৃষি অফিসার সজিব আল মারুফ,ডা. মোঃ রোকন - উজ জামান। এছাড়াও সফল খামারী এমরান সরকার ও মোছাঃ মমতাজ খাতুন বক্তব্য রাখেন।
এর আগে উপজেলা প্রাণী সম্পদ অধিদপ্তর থেকে বর্ণাঢ্য র্যালি বের হয়ে বিভিন্ন রাস্তা প্রদক্ষিণ করে প্রাণিসম্পদ অধিদপ্তর চত্বরে এসে শেষ হয়। পরে প্রাণীসম্পদ সপ্তাহে অংশগ্রহণকারী মোট ২৫টি স্টলে প্রদর্শিত গরু, মহিষ, ঘোড়া, দেশী-বিদেশী দুম্বা, পোষা কুকুর-বিড়াল বিটল, তোতাপুরি, গুজরি, হরিয়ানা জাতের ছাগল, গারল, কবুতরসহ বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির পাখি পরিদর্শন করেন অতিথিরা।
এসময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন বীর মুক্তিযোদ্ধা, সাংবাদিক, রাজনৈতিক নেতৃবৃন্দ, উপজেলার বিভিন্ন এলাকার শতাধিক সফল খামারী- উদ্যোক্তা ও সূধীজন।

Fisheries play a vital role in ensuring food security, economic stability, and ecological balance for millions of people across the globe. In many developing nations, including those in South Asia, fisheries are not just a source of nutrition but a lifeline for rural communities. They provide employment, support local markets, and contribute significantly to national GDP. As the global demand for fish continues to rise, sustainable management of this sector has become more essential than ever.

Coastal communities rely heavily on fishing as their primary livelihood, while inland aquaculture has expanded rapidly due to technological advancements and increasing investor interest. Fish is also an affordable source of high-quality protein, making it an important contributor to combating malnutrition.
However, the sector faces growing challenges. Overfishing, pollution, habitat destruction, and the impacts of climate change are putting unprecedented pressure on natural fish stocks. Rising temperatures, unpredictable rainfall, and salinity changes are disrupting breeding patterns and threatening long-term sustainability. Illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing further adds to the burden on marine environments and undermines the livelihoods of small-scale fishers.
To protect this vital sector, sustainable practices must be prioritized. Investment in modern aquaculture, improved hatchery technologies, and environmental monitoring can significantly boost productivity while preserving ecosystems. Governments must enforce stricter regulations, support small fishers with training and equipment, and encourage community-based management models that promote collective responsibility. Public awareness about responsible fish consumption can also contribute to reducing unnecessary pressure on wild fish populations.
Fisheries, when managed wisely, can continue to nourish populations, support economies, and maintain ecological harmony for generations. Their future depends on sustainable choices made today.
